Plans for December

Wow....3 posts in one day! Woot! I'm on a roll!! Well, finals are this week and I couldn't be happier. This has been a tough semester. I'm so excited for a break. This month is going to be busy, (December usually is for everyone). We have so much stuff planned for the month. To kick off my wonderful break I will be going here........

NEW YORK CITY!!

I will be seeing this......

and this......

and possibly this.....

I've never been before so I'm just a little excited.

Our Christmas Tree

So I finally got some time to put up our Christmas decorations. December sneeked up on me this year. Here are some pictures of our tree in all it's glory. I love it. It's possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen....I love it THAT much. Enjoy!

Here it is with the lights on.....

and off.

Isn't it beautiful!? I love the holidays.

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. The best part, was being out of school for a couple of days. We had Thanksgiving dinner with both families this year. We first went to Dave's parents and then to my Grandma and Gradnpas. We were so stuffed by the end of the day, but it was WONDERFUL. It was a great day full of food and family. :) Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the actual festivities....we were enjoying ourselves too much.
On the Friday after Thanksgiving, we got up early and headed out to my parents new condo in Mesquite. We helped them move some furniture in over the weekend. We were there from Friday to Sunday. We spent all of Friday moving in and then we just spent Saturday and Sunday relaxing in the hot tub, going out to eat, watching movies, playing games, reading, and bascially doing whatever we wanted. It is a really cute condo and I can tell that it will get a lot of use! I'm so excited that my parents were in the position to get this condo. A lot of good memories will be made there. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Oh my gosh. This picture made us laugh so hard. Our favorite is the old man on the right. Wow! He's excited!!

It's about a 6 hour drive to Mesquite from Kaysville. Carlie apparantly got a little bored along the way.

This is a casino that is about 2 minutes aways form the condo.

Dave, me and my grandma hanging out in the living room. She HATES having her picture taken.

One hurdle down...only about a thousand more to go!

So, this semester has been pretty crazy and I have spent a lot of my time on a huge project for my Teaching Elementary Health Education class. I had to prepare and give a 45 minute lesson plan to my class (who had to pretend to be a group of Elementary students). I was SO worried about this assignment becasue I had never given such a LONG presentation before. I spent countless hours preparing handouts, figuring out what to do for my bulletin board, and just making sure that I had enough planned to fill up the entire 45 minutes. It was my turn to teach the class last night and can I just say....IT WAS AWESOME!! I cannot wait to become a teacher! I was so worried about it going well, but everything just went so smoothly and I felt so great about it! (I know I sound like I'm tooting my own horn here, I was just really happy about it). If you know me at all, you know that I have worked really hard on doing well in school this semester and it just makes me happy to see the hard work pay off. Anyway....I just had to share that it went well so when I have to give another one, I can look back at this post and know that "YES! I CAN do this!!"

This is a picture of me in front of my Bulletin Board. My lesson was on Self-Esteem and Self-Worth. Please ignore my cheesy grin (I was REALLY excited) and my gross hair. :)

Best thing ever made?????

The DISHWASHER!!!!
So, for the past year+, Dave and I have been without a dishwasher and have handwashed our dishes. Can I just say that I HATE doing the dishes. It is the worst chore EVER!!!! We also have been without a full sized refrigerator. Here is a picture of what we have been using thus far.....

This lovely little ditty has been the humble home of our food for the past year. It is a wonderful little fridge. With some major handywork, it will store a gallon of milk, a jar of salsa, mayo, mustard, salad dressing, a bag of salad, butter, jam, four containers of yougurt, a dozen eggs (this one takes skill), a SMALL package of cheese, and some deli meat. Now....once you get everything into the fridge, the REAL trick is getting it to shut without having all the food fall off of the shelves. THEN, when you want to get something out, be sure to do so in a delicate manner...one false move and everything could fall out. Oh, and one more thing...beware of putting any food on the top shelf..unless you want whatever you put up there to be frozen.

This is the fridge that we have now......

My parents were so gracious and decided to get a full size fridge for the basement kitchen. And I must say that I have never been so excited about a fridge in my life!! It is so awesome! We can have a gallon of milk AND a container of juice AT THE SAME TIME!!! WOW!!....amazing!

Not only do we now have a full sized fridge, but we have a......

DISHWASHER!!!!

The dishwasher has taken the place of our lovely little fridge that I so fondly spoke about earlier. In the past few days I have discovered that there is no better sound than that of a running dishwasher....life is wonderful my friends...life is wonderful.

Halloween 2009

We had a pretty boring Halloween this year. We have no children so Halloween is kind of a lame holiday. I did manage to take a few pictures though. I always like to dress up for Halloween even if all I do is stay home and hand out candy. Halloween is afterall, one of my favorite holidays. So here are a few pictures from the nights festivities...muahahahhahaa.... :)

My pumpkin. I had carved it a week earlier and didn't take a picture of it until Halloween night. By Halloween night, it had shriveled up into a gross mess. It's supposed to say "Ashley".

Dave and I. He's a gamer if you can't tell. ;)

My Poodle skirt that I made. Yay for me!

Megan as an alien thingy...I dunno whay she was but she sure looked cool!

Megan and I spent a lot of the night handing out candy...Dave was downstairs fulfilling his duties as a "gamer" :)

Dave and I ended our AWESOME Halloween night by going grocery shopping at Walmart...way exciting, I know...and yes, I wore my costume.

Just Curious.....

Alright, so I'm just wondering if anybody reads this INCREDIBLY FASCINATING blog. I never receive ANY comments to my posts....SOOOOO either my life is boring and nobody cares, or everyone is just like me, and never leaves a comment. :) Just for the sake of curiosity, please leave a comment so that I know who my loyal readers are. ;)

Oh, and if you're a blog stalker like I am, don't be shy! Chances are, I read yours too! :)

Thriller

We went to "Thriller" this past Saturday. I have now seen this Halloween dance show THREE times. I LOVE it. My family was nice enough to come with me. I did enjoy it; However, I have to say that this years performance was the worst out of the three...I was somewhat disappointed. It was very apparent to me that there had been some budget cuts. Nonetheless, it was a fun night out with the fam. Oh and by the way, doesn't Dave look "Thrilled" to be there? Again, Dave thinks that it is funny to not smile in ANY photo that I try to get of us. His goal of ruining EVERY picture taken this year is going well. (He WAS smiling right before I took the picture.)

Color Me Mine

This past weekend was so fun! I had some much needed "me" time. Carlie and I were able to go to this sweet pottery studio in Ogden to watch Marny Proudfit (Ben's girlfriend-btw, if you haven't heard of her, you should search her on facebook). I love her music...it is so free and fun. She is very talented. I was so glad that we went. It was the perfect Friday night. If you have never been to Color Me Mine, you really should go. It is this way cool pottery studio. They have A TON of stuff to choose from to paint, and A TON of colors. Carlie painted a dragon piggy bank...lol...dragon PIGGY bank. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but you know what I mean. I painted this really cool mug with dots on it. Here are some pictures from the night.

Carlie and Marny

Me and Marny

This is only HALF of what you can choose from.

I really don't like this picture of me, but it is the only one of me painting my mug. I have a weird smile....

Carlie being the cool person that she is

I can't wait to go back....in fact, I'll be back this Friday to pick up my mug (they have a kiln and they fire everything for you)....Awesome!

Fall is here!

There has been frost on my windshield the past two mornings. I hate frost on my windshield. I hate waiting for my car to warm up. I hate being cold. But, I LOVE Fall. I have been sad the past week or so realizing that summer is over. I am excited for the new season however. I hate the weather that comes with it, but it is such a fun time. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I LOVE it. I love decorating for Halloween. That is what I did this past weekend. YAY for decorating!

I made this "spooky" sign this past weekend. I love crafts...they make everything better. I know I'm a nerd for posting this picture, but I just love it. I was proud of my craft abilities. :)
More Halloween decorations. The top shelf is supposed to be my "cute" Halloween decorations, and the bottom shelf is my "scary" Halloween decorations. (Just for you Car-I know how much you hate "cute" Halloween decorations). Thanks to the wonderful BF Crafts for the scary decorations idea. I loved making these! My favorite is the "zombie juice".
Btw, these are just a select FEW of my Halloween decorations. I have MUCH more. Yeah....I'm a nerd.
Also, I get to go see Thriller on Saturday. I am SO excited! Woot! I bought the tickets over a month ago. My whole family is going....even DAVE (he's so sweet to go with me)...AHHHH can't wait!

Our Life as of Late

The above picture is of Dave and I at Mike's soccer game a week or so ago. It really has nothing to do with this post, but I like it. As mentioned previously, school started for BOTH of us. We have NO time together. I haven't been to college for awhile so it's been sort of an adjustment for me. I took some time off from school, and I have to say, I LOVED it. There was nothing better than working, coming home from work, and only having to worry about laundry, dinner, and so forth. Now, it's amazing if the dishes get done once a week (gross, I know...but when you don't have a dishwasher, and it takes 1 hour to wash your dishes, AND you don't really have 1 hour of spare time.....you get the idea.) To say that school as added a little stress to our lives would be an understatement. Working full time and going to school full time=no life and no fun.

Alright, enough complaining....I realize that we are not the ONLY couple that has busy schedules, I just had to vent there for a minute. I actually am really enjoying school so far. The classes that I am taking this semester have been a lot different than others. Despite a few classes...(curse you Human Development), I am enjoying my time at school. I have my interview to be admitted into the teaching program next Monday. I really hope that I do well. I would love to be able to start the teaching program in the Spring. Wish me luck!

I apologize, this post is all over the place and doesn't really make sense! I think I just needed to vent to myself. Hopefully Dave and I will survive this semester! It hasn't been fun thus far. December 12th is going to be the best day EVER!!

Zebra Print Cake

So I made this cake about a month ago and I totally forgot to blog about it. I made this cake for a neighbor. It was for her daughters birthday. This one was so much fun to make! I was so worried that it wasn't going to turn out. (as always) This was my first attempt at making a bow with fondant. Wow, not so easy. I think the finished product looked cute though. Sadly, this will probably be the last cake that I make for awhile. I have had so much fun this summer exploring my new hobby. I just don't have the time for it anymore with school and work....(more on that in my next post). Hopefully, things will die down after the semester and I can make some fun cakes over the break.

Amazed

(Please note: The picture above is NOT a picture of MY earphones) My earphones are actually in a big tangled mess at the moment. I just simply wanted to share that my ipod earphones have gone through the washer AND dryer at least 4 times now (thanks to my wonderful husband-love you hun), and they STILL work! Amazing!

Bridger Lake August 2009

Wow. Get ready for picture overload! I don't like to just pick and choose which pictures I want tp post, so I post ALL of them! This past weekend, I was able to go camping with the Eddy side of the family. Unfortunately, Dave was unable to come because of work. I had such a fun time with my family. We don't see the Eddy side of the family much, so that made it even more fun. We spent the weekend golfing (no pictures of that, sorry), fishing, reading, playing games and chilling around the campfire. It was a much needed weekend getaway. Now that school has started, I don't think I'll be able to relax like that for quite awhile. Here are some pictures from my camping adventures! Dad and I. The sun was in our eyes. I really was happy to be there, honest.
Megan fishing

waiting for the fish to bite

This is Bridger Lake. It was so pretty.

My family fishing along the bank of the lake. My Uncle Gordon is in the red at the end, then Uncle Brent is in the blue, then Walker (Kayla's boyfriend) then Kayla in the Plaid, and Uncle Lou in the white. This is basically what we did the whole time. So relaxing and fun! My poor Dad practically spent the whole time untangling the fishing poles. LOL. I bet he is so happy he got three girls! :)

My beautiful cast.

Carlie spent the majority of the trip taking pictures. I love her red hair.
Waiting and waiting

I caught one! Yay!

The sunset on the lake.

Carlie was sad because I caught a fish and she didn't.

Real sad....LOL

She caught one the next day though. All is right in the world again. :)

Her fish, and her gross hands. She gutted and cleaned her fish. Eww

Megan making her "secret" dessert for the family. It was peanut butter chololate bars. Yum!

Here's the fish that we all caught.

Megan eating the fish that she caught. She even liked it! SHOCKER!

Me eating my fish. I am NOT a fan of fish but I wanted to try it, and I actually liked it. My Uncle Brent put a buch of spices on it and stuff.

Carlie and I goofing around in the trailer

Lol. I think we had a little too much fun.

Carlie and I went on a mini hike. Heres the view from it. Bridger Lake is at the very bottom. All you can see are the lily pads on the top of the lake.

Another view from our hike.

There were a TON of lily pads on the edges of the lake.

So pretty. All of the trees were orange because they are dying, NOT because of them changing colors for Fall. Some type of beetle is killing all of the trees. It was sad.

This tree was so cool looking. I love this picture

Carlie roasting her apple.

We all made fun of her idea, but it actually turned out really good. After roasting it, she cut it up and put brown sugar on it. I sure love Carlie's wacky ideas.
So, that was my weekend getaway. And now, it's back to work and school. Oh Joy! :)
