Baby Shower Cake

We had a baby shower for our neighbor last night and Megan and I made this cake for it. This was my first tiered cake as well as my first cake using fondant. It didn't turn out as well as well as I had hoped it would, but it was ok. I still need a little practice. There are a few tears and folds in the fondant, but I thought it was pretty good for a first try. Can you tell that I am a perfectionist? (: Thanks to Megan for all the help! Next up.... a two tier birthday cake for a girl in my ward next week. Her mother saw this cake last night and wanted me to make her one for her daughters birthday! Wish me luck!

Lacey and Brians Wedding

We spent this past weekend in Logan celebrating Lacey and Brian's wedding. Here are a few pictures from the day.

I love this pic of Jayce. She was a bridesmaid.

Sierra. Such a cutie!

I loved the cake! The colors were so cute!
And, there are two monkeys on the top. (:

The happy couple. Congratulations!

Spring!

Yay! I finally feel like spring is here! The past few days have been so nice and warm! I was so excited the other day to see that the tulips that my parents and I planted last fall are starting to come up! I hope that the weather stays this way. No more cold days and snow!

Cakes Cakes Cakes!

As previously mentioned, my sister and I started a cake course in February. We loved it! It was so much fun. I now have a new appreciation for those who make wedding cakes. It takes SO long! We took the Wilton cake course one. We are hoping to take another one in April. Here are the cakes that we made. As you can see, the first ones are not so great, but I think we improved a lot from week to week.

Cake one

I thought this was pretty good for my first cake. Red velvet cake with raspberry filling. MMM!

Cake two
You can't really tell but there are white daisies made out of gumpaste. This cake was fun. White cake with pineapple filling.

Cake three
LOL. This cake was hilarious to make. Such funny clowns. Chocolate cake with blackberry filling.

Cake four

This cake was made for Dave's Starcraft fest! WOOT! Fun Fetti cake with strawberry filling. WAY yummy!

Cake five.
I made this cake last weekend for Lacey and Brian's "hurricane" party. It's my best cake so far. It has been a fun hobby and I hope to be able to make more cakes. Thanks to Dave's family and friends for having to eat all this cake each week! Hopefully they were yummy! My next endeavor is going to be a three tier cake for a baby shower. Wish me luck!

I am horrible at this!

I started this blog in hopes of keeping it up to date and as you can see, my plan did not work so well. I'd like to blame it on the fact that I have nothing going on right now (which is partly true btw) but the real blame is my laziness. I think about posting a lot, but then somehow watching television and sleeping get in the way. (: Hopefully I will become better at this in the future.
