Pop Cam Roll 1

A few months ago, I made a "want" purchase vs. a "need" purchase, and bought a little toy camera called the Pop Cam.  As you all know, I'm pretty much obsessed with documenting my life through photos and thought this camera would provide some fun little photos to document my summer.  (Plus. it was only $10.00!  Uh, Score!)  Here's a picture of the Pop Cam for your viewing pleasure.  :)

It takes four pictures within a 1 second span, and each photo is tinted.  Your final photo is four tinted photos within a photo.  WOW, pretty sure that was the worst possible explanation ever.  :) Moving on....

Now, I am not a photographer by any means and have no desire to be such, but I've wanted to dabble in film for a while now and thought this would be a great and CHEAP way to do it.  I just got my first roll back and I was really happy with the results.  Here's just a few things I learned from this first round:

1.  The Pop Cam is a CHEAP camera.  It is $10.00 and you surely get $10.00 worth of camera.  But honestly, this didn't bother me much at all.  As long as you're not throwing it on the ground and treating it like garbage, you'll be good.

2.  There is no flash on this camera, so it is VERY important that you take pictures outside on a SUNNY day.  I took a few photos inside and you can't see a thing (as you'll see from my examples below).

3.  If perfection is your game, this is NOT the camera for you.  There is a "viewfinder" on the camera, but honestly, it's pretty useless.  There's really no way of knowing how your picture is going to turn out.  This would bother some, but I love it!

Here"s my first roll.  These haven't been photo shopped at all, so it's a pretty good indication of what the cameras capabilities are.  What do you think?

Santa Monica

Dave and I just returned from a super short trip to Santa Monica, CA for a work BBQ that HCA was hosting. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures from our time there, but I thought I'd post some highlights.

Flight to CA: FIRST of all, please understand that when you fly, you are surrounded by other people. PLEASE be courteous of those around you. Believe it or not, I don't really care to hear about your distaste of the state of Utah and although you may see all other passengers as an audience for you to entertain, we are in fact totally annoyed by your inability to use your inside voice in the aircraft.

For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE do not encourage the individual above by laughing at his/her comments. It's only fueling the fire, and I hate you for it.

Our in-flight entertainment included a segment from "Frozen Planet" (some kind of Discovery network show). During this particular scene, a seal was sneaking up on a penguin and the penguin was frantically trying to get away. As the sealcatches up with the penguin and bites down on it's leg, the whole plane of people shouted "NOOOOOO" in unison. Awesome.

Ordering the "Purple Cow Freeze" at the pier. Vanilla custard and Fanta grape soda. Umm, yes please!

Eating our "easily digestible" bread sticks from Shutters. :)

Walking along the shops on the boardwalk and being surrounded by a very strong scent of weed....turning around now....

The "Wellness Clinic" with the green cross. :)

Flight home: Dave got to sit in front of someone who had terrible gas, and wanted to die from the constant stream of death farts wafting their way to his nose. :) Luckily, we didn't get to sit next to each other during this flight, so I was unaffected.

Polaroids from the Past

We were going through all our old photos a few days ago and I came across these wicked awesome polaroids from back in the day.  Truly precious.  It's too bad polaroid film is so expensive now.  Enjoy!

HA!  When I first looked at this photo I thought "AHHH, I'm so scary looking!"  And then I looked at Carlie's face.... haha  there are no words...
Baby Carlie getting tubes in her ears.  I still have no idea what that thing on her forehead is for.  Hmmm.
Halloween.  Carlie is obviously a cat.  Who knows what Adam and I am???  A fairy ballerina princess?  My first thought for Adam was He-Man.  But I don't think that's right.  Whatever.  We're still boss.
Best picture ever.  I'm the biggest nerd.  Oh, and don't you love my spelling?  "Pertty Pich"  Wow.
I actually love my outfit in this.  Is it just me or does that seem to be back in style now?
Just a few questions I have to ask:
WHY OH WHY did you make me look like a boy, mother!?  If you couldn't tell, I'm the one on the very bottom.  At least I have a Little Mermaid shirt on.
Oh...AND,
Why are Adam's pants not buttoned up???

I hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane!  Don't you love looking at photos from the past?
