First off, let's start on a really random note. Here's a picture of when my car hit 100,000 miles.
SUPER cool, right?
Last week was the fourth of July. Dave and I went up to the Bear Lake Cabin on the 4th to celebrate. It was SOOOO hot up there. I can't even imagine what it was like in Davis County. Ewww.
Speaking of ewww...
We went to turn the swamp cooler on, but we haven't used it yet so we needed to take the cover off of it. So we did. On top of the swamp cooler were these clods of dirt and such. We thought that they may be the workings of some mud wasps so Dave went and got some Raid to kill the blasted things. While Dave was getting the Raid, Jolynn poked the little dirt clods (to further investigate, of course) and THIS, my friends, is what she found....
Is that not the sickest thing you have EVER seen?!? Gah! My skin crawls just looking at it!
As soon as Dave came out and saw this unholy sight he soaked (and I mean SOAKED) them in Raid. Poor things never had a chance.
Moving on now...
We decided to go to Pairs, Idaho for our 4th of July celebration. It was quite the party. The city performs an hour long musical performance in a historical tabernacle. (Seeing as the population of Paris is less than 500 people, I didn't think there would be that many people there). WRONG. This place was packed.
After the musical performance, the city puts on a parade. This is where the awesome comes in. This parade is (and I kid you not) less than 15 minutes long. AND, that's with the parade going down one side of the street and coming back down the other. Now THAT'S my kind of parade. I got some pictures, but I took them with my Pop Cam so you'll just have to wait to see those. They are priceless I assure you.
All sarcasm aside, it really was fun and the musical performances were pretty well done. Later that night Dave and I went to Cooper's to celebrate. Happy Birthday America!
Random picture of Dave at Cooper's. I was making fun of how his hair looked.
No fireworks this year (sadly). All fires and fireworks were outlawed at the cabin due to wildfire problems. We figured it would be better to not have fireworks rather than to chance burning down all of the cabins. Yeah. Probably a good choice.
Now, on to the good news.... (Have you made it this far? Good for you!)
Yesterday I got offered a third grade teaching position in Davis School District!! YAY!!!
(You thought I was announcing a pregnancy huh?? Just admit it, you thought it.)
I had been awaiting that phone call for almost a week so I was SO happy to hear the good news. Dave took me out to Texas Roadhouse last night to celebrate, and I signed my contract with the district this morning. It's a part time position and I'll be teaching with a long time neighbor friend so I really couldn't be happier. I'll also be able to stay working with HCA part time. I'm feeling so lucky and blessed with how everything worked out.
Here's a picture of my "celebratory drink" from Texas Roadhouse. (I know you wanted to see that). :)
We hope everyone's summers are going great and are excited for what the next few months have in store for us.
soooo...are you teaching at Heritage? With Karen? Congrats on getting a job. You will be awesome! Call me if you need a sub!
ReplyDeleteFun times!! I think that's a very good picture of Dave. He is actually smiling. Woohoo for the job!!
