The Case of the Missing Wedding Ring

About three weeks ago, Dave couldn't find his wedding ring.  He usually puts it in one of three places. 1) on top of the entertainment center.  2) on our dresser.  3) on his desk.  This typically happens once a week, but after searching for about a minute, the ring is usually found in one of said three places.  So naturally, we searched those spots...with no luck.  Calmly looking for the ring soon turned into tearing the house apart looking for the ring.  I'm talking crawling on hands and knees looking through the carpet seems, looking under all our furniture, pulling out and emptying all drawers, going through pants pokets, shirt pokets, shoes, socks, whatever!!  You name it, we had looked through it, in it, around it.  NO RING.  It seriously was gone.

Now, we start thinking..."when was the last time you wore it?" "was it before or after our camping trip?" "OMG, it could be out in the forest somewhere!" "No, no, it was after our camping trip" blah blah blah, you get the idea.  Dave finally came to the conclusion that it HAD to either be in the house, OR it fell off his hand somewhere.

After searching for days, we gave up.  Then, on weekends, I would again painstakingly search the ENTIRE house.  Going over and over and over the same places.  I was losing my mind...and sometimes was brought to tears thinking "OMG!!!!  Where in the hell could it possibly be?" (and yes, I said hell...it was a high stress situation...get off my back).  I then came to the conclusion that I must have thrown it away on accident.  It must have been sitting on top of junk mail, and in my desperation of trying to keep our house clutter free, I threw it away without noticing.  Yes, that surely is what happened.  I was convinced it was sitting in a landfill somewhere.  I think Dave had given up completely at this point.  (Although, he told me there was no way that I had thrown it away).

Weeks had gone by, and "the ring" was now becoming somewhat of a joke.  We both stopped looking, but we each had moments of "AH!  If I could just see where it was, then I could move on!"  The unknown was killing us.  Then, this Saturday, I was in one of my "I'm going to find this ring if it's the last thing I do" kind of moods.  So I began, where I always did: in the bedroom.  Under the bed? No  Under the dresser? No  In the dresser?  No..."maybe I'm just not seeing clearly, lets look again"  Repeat process...no.  The living room: NO, kitchen: NO, bathroom: NO.  I even went as far as emptying the vaccum and sifting through the gunk...after that disgusting adventure, a very unfortunate NO.  I think you're getting the picture.  The ring was nowhere to be found.

I then moved on to the game room/office.  I tell myself "There is no way it is in here.  I have looked and looked and looked."  Then, as I sifted through some of the papers on Dave's desk, I heard one of the most beautiful sounds I'll ever hear: the clanking of metal against wood.  My heart skipped a beat, I kid you not.  I slowly move the papers away and THERE IT IS!!!  Sitting on top of Dave's desk!  Dave and I still can't believe I found it.

How we missed it the first twelve bajillion times we looked there is a mystery to me.  And, how funny is it that it was in one of the three places!?  So, the mystery is over.  And now Dave has a lovely little box that he HAS to put his ring in every night.  I'll let you know when he loses it again.  I'm sure he won't last a week. ;)  Love you babe.

Bear Lake has become a second home to us on the weekends.  We LOVE it up there.  We spent this past weekend there, and it was so beautiful becuase all of the leaves were changing.  Maybe I'm ready for fall afterall.  :)  Here's some pictures of our view.  Enjoy!

Labor Day Weekend

Dave and I spent Labor Day weekend up at the Bear Lake cabin.  Three days of nothing but relaxation.  It was wonderful, and needed.  Here's a peek at what we did:
Got shakes .
Killed this beast of a spider.
It was so gross!  Seriously!  These pictures do not even compare.   .
Went on a 4-wheeling ride.
I call this Dave's "blue steel" look
We call this spot "make-out point".  For no reason....
Celebrated Kaitlyn's 10th birthday.
Went golfing.
Taken from the golf course.

Thanks to Dave's parents for the lovely weekend!  It was much needed and appreciated!

Back to School Blues

Here's the scoop:

Dave and I started school again this Monday, and we hate it. I only had two weeks off between summer and fall semesters, so I'm not too happy to be back. We've both got some pretty heavy loads this semester and I think we've bit off a bit more than we can chew. We literally see eachother for about 20 minutes each day.

Funny story...Dave and I both leave pretty early in the mornings and as he was brushing his teeth yesterday he said "Well, have a good day, see you tomorrow." :) Which really isn't far from the truth. It's been a busy few days, but we hope to get into the swing of things soon. Other than being totally exhausted (getting up at 6:00 am has been quite the adjustment for us!)-we are not morning people, we're doing good.

We've loved living in Bountiful, (although it feels like we don't spend much time there these days). It took us awhile to get everything settled, but it finally feels like "home".

I'm happy to say that my Project 22 blog is going well, and is nearing the 6 month mark! This has been a very fun project and I hope it continues to be a priority for me. My camera has become a permanent accesory. :)

Hopefully updates won't continue to be this sparse in the future. And because posts with no pictures are absolutely lame, here's one for your viewing pleasure.

Am I sexy or what? Dave is so lucky.

Too hot?

Just do what Dave does. Lay by the vent and cover yourself with a blanket to lock in the cold air. He's such a nerd.

Summer Happenings

Warning: HUGE catch up post ahead.
Since our trip to Bryce Canyon, we've been pretty busy. Here's just a view into what we have been up to lately.
I'll start off this post with Brewer, just becuase he's so cool. There.
My Grandparents were the Grand Marshalls of Pleasant View this year. They were in a parade and we came to celebrate!
Isn't my grandma ardorable?

They had Star Wars characters in the parade. Dave was super excited. ;)

Me and Calee at the parade.
I also finished this puzzle...in which I spoke about previously here.

This thing was a beast to finish. I was so happy to get it done!

We've also spent quite a bit of time up at the Bear Lake cabin.
Here's Kaitlyn at our "beach"

Oh, and we got to enjoy the above pictured kids driving their four wheelers through the wet mud back and forth right behind us. (Nothing like sitting at the beach and getting mud flicked on you every 2 minutes). Jolynn and I were thrilled. Some people are so weird.

Kaitlyn, Mike and Dave seemed to have fun though. They're standing where the beach should be.

This is Dave watching for magpies. We're not big fans of them.
AND.......
We moved here yesterday.

We are now residents of Bountiful.

This is what our apartment looks like right now. Nice huh? ;) Hopefully I'll be able to get things a little more organized this weekend.

Just a thought

I'm getting really tired of driving to and from work and passing the "rotten eggs" part of the freeway. Why can't the Salt Lake smell like a bed of roses?? Just sayin.

Bryce Canyon/Mesquite

We were able to spend a few days at Bryce Canyon and Mesquite this past weekend. It was a nice couple of days away from school and work and well, just life in general. Get ready for A LOT of pictures. Who doesn't like pictures right?

This is us hiking Bryce Canyon. We had just got there after driving about 5 hours so we were a little tired, but the hike was beautiful.

See...beautiful right?

This is my failed attempt at getting a cool group shot.

Megan and a baby tree.

Me on our hike. This is before I wanted to die. lol. I'm out of shape.

Double bridge.

Our second day there, we went horseback riding through a slot canyon.

Mom, Carlie and Austin.

During our horseback ride, we went on a mini hike to sight see.

There were blooming cacti everywhere.

It was so beautiful.

Carlie on her horse Rosie.

Austin and I were the privileged individuals who were able to ride the mules. I was on Jake...

and Austin on Alice.

Here's the slot canyon we rode through.

It was a tight squeeze in some spots.

The next day was spent golfing in Mesquite.

It was pretty hot, as you can see in Dave's face. :)

This hole was amazing. If you look really closely, you can see the tee. I've marked it on the photo. Longest hole ever!

Unfortunately, Dave and I forgot to wear sunscreen while golfing. I'll never forget again. This was that night at the pool party. It looks much worse here than it does now.

It still hurts pretty bad though. I'm still cursing myself for forgetting.

Megan, Austin and Dave at the pool party we had that night.

Me and Beth

Adam and Carlie. Poor Adam got the worst sunburn out of all of us. Ouch!

Wow, that WAS a lot of pictures. Congrats to you if you got through all of it. It was a relaxing weekend. It's always nice to get away from everything for a little bit. Now, it's back to the old grind.
